7 Attractive SSC Jobs that all Candidates Aspire to Get

Government jobs are one of the most preferred professions among most of the people looking stable and secure career. Almost a million students appear for government jobs each year. On 26th September 1977, a commission was nominated to make recruitment to various government departments in non-technical posts which are also known as Class III (now Group C).  The Staff Selection Commission is the part of Department of Personnel and Training and it is headed by a Chairman, two Members and a Secretary-cum-Controller of Examinations who is in charge for the Combined Graduate Level Examination, held every year.

1.    Inspector of Income Tax 
The work of an Income tax inspector is transferable on a cyclic basis. They look after the work related to the assessment of the income tax to be imposed on an individual, partnership, firm, company etc. They also oversee work related to the tax deduction with a raid team.

2. Inspector, (Central Excise)

Those who are appointed to this post are assigned with work to check the Excise & Service tax, customs duty, detection of evasion of taxes etc. They are appointed as Examiner and Preventive Officer. 


Promotion: Excise Inspector gets promotion once they complete 8 year term. The increment is allowed as per the rules of government.

3.    Inspector (Preventive Officer) 
The Preventive Officer is appointed to prevent illegal activities and to keep surveillance on smuggling, assessment of customs duty on goods can arrest, seize, search, detain etc. The inspector working under this department usually wears a khaki uniform with 2 yellow stripes and a logo of Asoka Stambha. In airports and in other cities they are seen in white uniform. 

4.     Inspector (Examiner)

Those who are working under this department are needed to examine goods and items that are imported and exported through ships and measuring duty on that. 


Promotion: For promotion, the examiner needs to serve minimum three years in this job role. They might require appearing for further exams for departmental promotions. 
Promotion is in the order of Appraiser (Group-B Gazette), Assistant Commissioner, and lastly Deputy Commissioner.

5.    Assistant Enforcement Officer [Directorate of Enforcement, Department Of Revenue)

An AEO executive looks on the affairs of money laundering conducts searches of alleged personnel, transportation, and properties and seize implicating supplies to arrest and prosecute the person suspected to be involved in the act.


Promotion: For promotion, the AEO Officer needs to serve a minimum tenure of 5 years in his intended post. 

6.     Inspector of Posts 

The inspector of posts is assigned with the duty to supervise the work related to the issue of stamps, and stationeries for dispatch to post offices, NSCs etc. This post is nothing interesting but still many people opt for this as this work requires less mental pressure. 


Promotion: After working for 3 years one can be promoted to Superintendent Post. 

7. Inspector [Central Bureau of Narcotics]
The narcotics officer conducts check on illegal activities related to drug supplies. They are responsible for the prevention of the drug trafficking.
